I'm Back!!

The older I get, the more I realize what is important to me. After 20 years of living independently in my house, I sold it to move back into the house I grew up in to help my aunt take care of her elderly sister. It was a miserable existence for all of us...and then covid 19 hit...and it was worse.

The house I grew up turned into the money pit. There were rats and possums in the attic, leaks and collapsing ceilings and a peeping tom neighbor...the only nice spot was the backyard Eden I had created.

Gwyn died in 2023, and after a large leak in the kitchen/living room Christmas night caused by a mouse, I had had it! I started looking into selling houses for cash in January and by February I had an offer. Jenny and I started looking for houses for sale in Rockwall semi-seriously in January and then we found our home in late February.

It was a new build in Royse City, Tx. It wasn't going to be ready until the end of April, but we fell in love. 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, open concept living room/kitchen. dining room/study and upstairs media room. Best of all, it was in our price range. We could find an older house in Rockwall for the price we were needing, but with the over inflated prices of real estate, there was no way to afford a house closer to work...

We closed on our house April 19th, and I moved in immediately, while getting things ready to go for Jenny, my pups and my cats.

We were all moved in by Mother's Day.  To say it was a move from hell is putting it mildly. Jenny fell and broke her shoulder, the ac went out twice, the guy who was supposed to move us kept bailing, so we lost a lot of our stuff...but that is ok...it was a clean start...no holding on to the past.

Since moving in, we have had some trials and a lot of good times. This weekend, I baked bread for the first time in over 5 years!

Halloween was amazing here,
and I went all out!

Fun was had by all!! So, this is where we are at right now. I have prepped the house with Thanksgiving decorations. Tuesday is a make-or-break election. And by this weekend, I will have mowed the yard for the last time, fertilized it in prep for winter, and hopefully created a garden.

I still need to empty the last storage unit I have in Richardson, which will happen over Thanksgiving break, but I am settling in, and I am not miserable anymore!
