Engaging with Companies that Support DEI
I think it is important to stand up for your beliefs...even if I don't share those same beliefs. What I don't believe in, is working behind the scenes to enforce your beliefs upon others. We are seeing a lot of that lately.
I will not use my platform, limited as it is, to state that if you don't believe in what I am saying, you are clearly in the wrong and would be better off leaving this country...We hear enough of that from the fascists...what I do not understand is why a seemingly small sect of people were able to take over an entire party, and why that party didn't think, "hey, maybe this one belief for an entire country isn't such a good idea"!
And for those saying we are not fascists, we just believe in making America great again, the definition of fascism is: a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism...sound familiar?
Anyway, I digress...this post is about supporting those companies that stand up to the current government by saying DEI isn't a negative, but a positive. It's about giving marginalized people a chance in this world. It's a chance to do better and be better. You are not "owning" the libs by ridding the country of DEI, you are just stating that you do not support people of color, women, veterans and the disabled. Again, these are your beliefs, and you have a right to those beliefs...just don't hide behind other rhetoric...stand tall and shout it out so we can see who you are...then it is our right and within our power to take a stand for our beliefs and throw our support to the companies that share the same ideology. It's called democracy...or in some cases, fafo!
There are few who are standing up against the 4th Reich...and one of those is Costco. Admittedly, I grew up with Sam's club...there was another company that tried to go up against them in the 90's, but they didn't last...I figured it would be the same with Costco, so I never gave them a chance. I finally gave them a chance this weekend and went for the first time yesterday. Their set up is similar to Sam's, and it wasn't difficult to find things. I found that their prices are higher in some regards, and they don't have as many selections in food, but that could be down to the current state of things. Their app isn't as user friendly, you can't scan and go or order ahead for pickup, and if you try to order online, it is for delivery only and you pay higher prices than are in the store. These are the cons...but when it comes to prices, we are talking a $2-$5 difference. This is something I can budget for if it means taking care of humanity.
